GM_DGA project

METROPOLITAN GENERATOR

Generadora Metropolitana has 4 plants; Renca, New Renca, Los Vientos and Santa Lidia, being the main Nueva Renca, which has a combined cycle and installed power of 379MW.

THE PROJECT

The basis of the project is the implementation of the new Deep Well Monitoring Cloud system for the Renca and Los Vientos plants based on compliance with the technical standard of the General Water Directorate (DGA), I consider an IoT project for automated Cloud data processing and management that allows interaction with Plant and the DGA.

The technical proposal offered by Active Control allowed to deliver to the client an industrial Cloud IoT standard solution, where the basis of the project is the use of RTUs capable of communicating with the different sensors available in each well (Level sensor, Pressure and Flow), log and store historical data locally for backup, and the availability of communication under the MQTT protocol with the Cloud platform. Además, the project considered the provision and assembly of new ACS hydrostatic level sensors, SIEMENS modbus flowmeters and cabinets with a power backup system.

The use of the Cloud platform allows the client to have a backup and history of all monitoring points, which are recorded in a SQL database, also, A platform was designed capable of automating the process of sending reports to the platform provided by the DGA, where each 24 hours, a report is generated with the hourly records of the previous day.

The project also considered the integration of data under the Modbus TCP protocol to be able to incorporate the information from each well into the existing DCS system at the Renca plant..

further, A web platform was implemented that allows the client to view the general conditions of each well, in addition to having a reporting tool, all accompanied by an intuitive and easy-to-use graphical interface.
